Message from the APS Team
January 22, 2009
As you may know, President Larry Lloyd announced Wednesday that Crichton College will restructure its programs and will discontinue our Traditional (Day) Students after the May 2009 Commencement. We wanted to reassure you that Crichton remains fully committed to you and the APS Program. In fact, we plan to fortify and energize the program in light of this decision. This decision will not affect you immediately – and it should result in a stronger, more vibrant APS program.
The purpose of the restructuring is to ensure the long-term viability of the school, which will remain fully accredited. Crichton’s commitment to Adult & Professional Studies, which serves approximately 600 adult students, remains in good financial condition. However, Crichton’s Traditional (Day) program has relied on millions of dollars of donations (in addition to tuition and fees) every year and the board has decided to discontinue the program to refocus on the APS program and the continuation of our mission for years to come.
The Board of Directors has prayerfully invested significant time and energy over the past several months reviewing strategic alternatives for the future of the College. Many different alternatives were considered.
The Board is dedicated to ensuring that Crichton’s mission continues for years to come.
We will continue to keep you informed of the upcoming transitions in the Traditional program. Please send any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please know that we are grateful to serve all of our students. The APS team considers it a privilege to serve you. Please don’t hesitate to contact your advisor or any member of the APS team if you have any questions about this announcement.
In His Service,
The APS Team
